The inventors of the Taste 'n' Tell REAL System, Ronnie and Catrina Park, created the series during a break after 25 years running a successful legal services business. Taste 'n' Tell evolved with them becoming grandparents and interacting with their grandson Daniel who was having problems during meals; she decided to place small pieces of broccoli in cling-film inside a clean 'lift-the-flap' book. This immediately gained his interest and he couldn't wait to see what Veggie vole wanted him to eat. From this 'eureka' moment, they realized the value in creating an interactive book to transform eating into a more stimulating activity. Initial prototypes were created, and basic user tests and legal activities were carried out. Encouraged by Daniel's reactions to the 'book with food' they decided to continue to the next stage. By April 2015, a patent was extended worldwide to123 countries included in the WIPO Patent Cooperation Treaty. To advance the concept to an industry-ready prototype, they found an industrial product company to help with the translation of the home-made prototype to a first level set of options. By May 2015, they appointed Innovate Product Design to take the product to the next level. By late 2016, the product design process reached sufficient detail to get quotes for manufacturers, which commenced in March 2017.
