Toy Type AC CO CP ES MA UN This is an innovation of Origami to add more to the traditional art of paper folding. By adding simple circuits to paper sculptures you can instantly animate them and create unique sculptures. Start simple and add a light or two and then make more complex modular systems with your origami robot sculpture. Add a small motor and see how it affects the movement of the sculpture based on where you attach it. This set is perfect for young engineers, origami enthusiasts, and can be used for both classroom and at home educational experiences. Each set includes: 1 Teknikio motionboard, 1 Teknikio batteryboard, 2 batteries, 4 LED lights, 10 fasteners, 1 piece of conductive tape, and 1 origami paper pack. This product was created after a series of workshops at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh around combing electronics with paper. Deren Guler, founder of Teknikio, experimented with several different origami shapes and circuit designs and identified the two most popular and fun through observation and testing with museum visitors. Initial testing was done with off-the-shelf components, but Guler noticed that these parts were not durable enough to withstand the troubleshooting that is key to learning electronics. She and her team designed reusable circuitboards and the initial kit was created soon after. Guler developed a technique for attaching the circuitboards to paper using metal paper fasteners and conductive tape, making it easy to attach and remove the components for different projects. There is an educational bundle version of the product, which is widely used by schools and STEM programs around the world.
